I need your help...fast. This bike is trying to kill me and I need it gone before it succeeds. Sure, it's an oldie, but it's no child's toy. It sits in my garage quietly taunting me to get on it and let it out of its cage. Owning this bike is like having your own pet King Cobra. Cute and cuddly while it's in its basket, however, once you let this thing out all it wants to do is bite you. And bite you really badly.
It was the world's fastest production motorcycle for six years running, before the uber-insane bikes hit the shelf. Rated at 134 rear wheel horsepower and a top speed of 283 km/h, or 176 mph for us old timers, this combination exceeds my available willpower and sensibility to ride it in any manner other than as a fool with a death wish. It's ridiculous actually, when you consider it will do highway speeds in first gear, leaving you with 5 more gears to see how big your stones are when you stare the King Cobra in the eyes.
This two-wheeled snake is not only beautiful to look at and engineered to fit you like a $5000 custom-tailored Armani suit, it is incredibly devious and cunning. It will lure you into believing you are a much better rider than you actually are, wooing you with the sound of its 1100 cc's of Samurai swords and Ninja Warriors clashing and banging in a hypnotic symphony of horsepower, while stealthily allowing you to accelerate to supra-legal speeds before you realize how ridiculously fast you are traveling and how seriously over your head you are. Your only chance at seeing tomorrow's sunrise rests in the good fortune that it has monster twin piston caliper 12" dual disc front brakes and a lengthy 59" wheelbase, which help somewhat to reduce life-threatening speed wobbles once you realize you aren't quite the man you thought you were as you mash the binders for dear life.
Don't say I didn't warn you. Previous riding experience is not required, but it's a good plan if you want to live past third gear. Also, if you are under 19 and want to buy this mechanized version of a loaded .44 Magnum, you're going to need your Momma's blessing, as I don't want the prospect of your grease stain on my conscience.
Cash only, no trades, no heroes. Put $3,000 in my hand and you can test drive it to Mexico for all I care.
